Our Future 05:29
The globe is sadly groaning with debt, poverty and strife And billions now are pleading to enjoy a better life Their hope lies with resources buried deep within the earth And the enterprise and capital which give each project worth Is our future threatened with massive debts run up by political hacks Who always dig themselves out by unleashing rampant tax The end result is sending Australian jobs and growth offshore This type of direction is harmful to our core Some envious unthinking people have been conned To think prosperity is created by waving a magic wand Through such unfortunate ignorance, too much abuse is hurled Against miners, workers and related industries who strive to build the world Develop North Australia, welcome short term foreign workers to our shores To benefit from the export of our minerals and ores The world's poor need our resources, do not leave them to their fate Our nation needs special economic zones and wiser government, before it is too late.

Hey hey it’s Saturday Kickin’ it ‘round the park Straight through the big sticks Slap him on the arse As you kick/jump/run Out on a Saturday night With touches on your mind This arvo you were kicking goals Now you’re out to score behinds As you run/jump/run Every muscle was built for this (x4) Everyone will be watching When you don’t come up to the mark Wishin' you were tall timber But you’re aching just to shark As you run/jump/run As you go to take the grab You get a don’t argue instead Goin' out of bounds now But not hearin’ the whistles in your head As you jump/run/jump Because, Every muscle was built for this (x4) You’ve got to run jump kick pass jump pump bump run jump kick pass jump run jump You’ve got to run pass thrust jump hit punch kick jerk grab punch hit punch kick jump punch You’ve got to run jump hit punch jump hit run punch kill fuck kill fuck punch jump run You’ve got to run kill fuck jump run pump hump kill run jump kill fuck run kill fuck (…)

Smoking cigars on the balcony Oh it’s a budget emergency Were building a fence for the refugees Oh it’s a budget emergency There’s nothing but bush right so close the communities Oh it’s a budget emergency Now lifestyle choices come with a fee ‘Cause it’s a budget emergency So tear down the camps and build a submarine Oh it’s a budget emergency You can’t buy a house or see a GP Oh it’s a budget emergency But Frances gets to study for free ‘Cause it’s a budget emergency Just feed your kids on sugar and tea ‘Cause it’s a budget emergency Now what you thought was yours Is now gone And who you thought you were Never was I’m a fixer roll up my sleeves Cause it’s a budget emergency We’ll turn the clock back to 2003 Oh it’s a budget emergency There’s no room for those who are here to lean Oh it’s a budget emergency It’s a Whyalla wipeout can’t you see Oh it’s a budget emergency Yeah, coal’s still good for humanity Cause it’s a budget emergency We gotta build more roads and cut down trees Cause it’s a budget emergency So we can all live in houses in North Sydney Cause it’s a budget emergency But they’ve changed the locks you can’t use your key It’s a budget emergency Now what you thought was yours Never was And who you thought you were Is now gone

Oh when you're driving through the paddocks In your Japanese car And you’re wondering what’s at stake Oh and you don’t wanna leave it No you don’t wanna leave it But you bastards are on the take The bottom falls out And the prices all gone Running four years long Think to yourself You add it up You add it all up (x3) And the screws get tighter And the rains don’t come And the cattle rot where they stand Had the same postbox for a hundred years And it’s filling up with demands And you’re driving the tractor over unmarked graves And the petrol’s runnin’ low And the crow flies away You add it up You add it all up (x3) And the grass dries off And the creeks run dry And the subsidies are off too And your neighbour's been workin' this land Since your time began But you don’t connect the two The Mallees grows strong in an empty field Where the seeds won’t yield And the sheep all keel You add it up You add it all up (x3) I never thought I’d be sold on market day They threw away a lifetime with the cattle and the hay (x11)

Watching the harbour meet the white and shining sea Men dying at construction sites we’ll name after the queen But I’m workin’ on it If you can see what I see I see a million ships roll in on a future breeze While your eyes are on your pockets I wanted more I wanted more so desperately Oh from the Arch I watch the tongues wag about me I scan the maps and lay the pipes down in my dreams But the way you talk about it The way you talk about me You only think about yourselves As you slide into grief Like the futures stuck between your teeth But when it comes it will blow you like a breeze Water’s flowing through the pipeline As it laps, as it laps around my feet I stare into the ocean I turn my back now finally But you don’t talk about it Oh you’re building a quay Oh you’re building a stadium But when the future comes it will wash you out to sea sea sea
